Quilters attended a reception at Leanne Tirpak's home on April 18th to drop off the many quilts they lovingly created for the Light House Shelter. To see some of the photos from that day, please click on the picture album to the right.

Please enjoy reflecting on the day, the comradeship, and the beauty and workmanship in each and every quilt. These blankets of many colors were created by the loving hands of a talented and special group of women who donated their time and skill to help those who are temporarily down on their luck. Countless people will be warmed at night with the comfort that springs from each quilt. This site does not include every quilt donated yet, so future updates will be made to include as many quilts as we can.

We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

April 18, 2010 Open House Quilt Drop-Off

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! So much generosity, warmth, talent, creativity and bonding all under one roof! We now have a total of 56 twin quilts, 1 full quilt and 5 crib/baby quilts stored away for the opening of the new LightHouse Shelter this coming Fall. And more to come. Guests brought their completed works, shared the status of works in progress and some promised even more quilts. One guest came to find out what the project is all about and committed to her own quilt after chatting with the lovely people here. Thanks to the wonderful people involved, we are all a part of what the Shelter is truly about, giving warmth and comfort to those in need. We are almost at our goal of 70 twin quilts, so very close, and this goal will be surpassed. The additional full size and baby quilts are true extra treasures. What a pleasure and honor to know and work with all of you.

Quilt Drop-Off Date

QUILT DROP-OFF DATE - The Quilt Committee would like to invite all of our wonderful donors to a Quilt Drop-Off Open House on Sunday April 18 anytime between 1-4pm. We may already have your quilt in-house but would love everyone to come by for refreshments and viewing of the many beautiful quilts. The event will be held at Leanne's home. The address will be followed up in a separate email.

Cathy's Corner

While producing wonderful, warm and comforting quilts for the Light House Shelter, our two mentor groups (meeting Monday nights and Tuesday mornings) are bonding and friendships are quickly forming. I am especially thrilled that most of the women have had none or very little experience in quilting, yet they are so enthusiastic about learning the craft and brave enough to come forward! I am looking forward to walking them through the process and seeing their finished products!
